Who am I?
I’m Michelle Peters, The Business Instructor. I’m a former practising solicitor from a Magic Circle firm who now helps the owners of small law firms, sole practitioners, and legal consultants, to get more clients and increase their profits without working more hours.
I’m the creator of ‘The Profitable Practice Programme For Lawyers Who Want More Clients and More Profits Without Working more Hours’ and the founder of ‘The Entrepreneurial Lawyer Network’ for ambitious and business-minded lawyers.

HOW CAN I HELP?
I help you find what to focus on in your business to quickly build your client base and strengthen your profits. Then I show you exactly what to do, in what order, to get more clients and make more profit in your practice – and hold you accountable for doing it to make sure you get results.
Depending on what we decide you need, I provide strategic advice, skills training (including marketing and client conversion skills) and/or mentoring and coaching.
Why ‘The Business Instructor’?
I was inspired to set up The Business Instructor in 2007 because after I left private practice and became a business owner, I discovered how little I’d learned whilst a solicitor about how to do critical business activities like marketing and ‘selling’ (practically a swear word when I was a solicitor) and how to strategically plan for the growth of a business or practice. Having developed those skills as a business owner I could see a need to help other solicitors and other professionals to develop these skills we well.
I chose the name ‘The Business Instructor’ because I think of what I do as a bit like having a fitness instructor, but for your business or practice rather than your body. Like getting fit and strong, the key to growing your business and improving your profits is working on the right things, and doing it regularly.
Most of us will admit we get more done when we have someone to help us do it – to help us focus on what we need to get done to achieve our goals and then hold us accountable for doing it. So that’s what I do – I help you focus on the right things, get more done, and get better results than if you were doing it on your own.
There’s no ‘miracle’ fix, but it doesn’t have to be a hard slog either. Provided you have the right person show you what to do, and to make sure you get it done, you’ll get quicker and better results.
Why should you work with me?
Because I was a solicitor in private practice for 9 years and because I’ve worked with many other solicitors and other professionals, I understand the genuine concerns you may have about wanting to attract more clients but at the same time not wanting to do anything which feels ‘unprofessional’ or ‘salesy’ (I’ve had them too). This is why I’ve put together programmes and training days for my clients which enable them to get their marketing and conversion working in a way which feels comfortable and ethical. And which brings them a steady (and reliable) flow of their ideal clients.
I also show my clients how to market themselves more effectively to their existing clients, so they can increase their fee income and profits and ethically make more money doing the expert work they are really good at, without having to spend so much time and effort continually looking for new clients.
So when you work with me I’ll never suggest you do anything which feels uncomfortable or which jeopardises your reputation. Instead I’ll guide you as to how to get more clients and increase your profits without needing to do anything which compromises your professional integrity.
